The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) has launched a nationwide initiative to enforce compliance with labor provisions of the H-2B temporary visa program in the hotel industry. The H-2B program permits employers to hire nonimmigrant workers from outside the U.S. to perform temporary or seasonal nonagricultural labor or services in the U.S. The compliance initiative includes conducting investigations of employers using the H-2B program to ensure that they recruit U.S. workers before applying for permission to employ temporary nonimmigrant workers.
See the WHD press release for more details.
