The US Department of Labor (USDOL) announced its proposal to return to a longstanding policy for federal contractors on religious exemption, seeking to rescind the Trump administration rule that expanded federal contractors’ religious exemption from anti-discrimination laws. That rule broadened the exemption to include employers who “hold themselves out to the public as carrying out a religious purpose.” The proposal was published in the Federal Register on Nov. 9; public comments will be accepted until Dec. 9.
