Past, Present and Future: U.S. Labor and Employment Law

It’s a challenging time to be an employer. Complying with laws established by the former Obama Administration, reacting to changes proposed or enacted by the current Trump Administration, and addressing emerging issues the government hasn’t even begun to acknowledge, requires employers to have a foot in the past, present and future all at once. On October 12, ES&A President Anna Elento-Sneed spoke to Guam businesses and employers about “Past, Present and Future: U.S. Labor and Employment Law” at an Employment Law Alliance (ELA) breakfast briefing sponsored by the Camacho Calvo Law Group. Elento-Sneed, who is a member of the ELA Board of Directors, provided updates on:

• The NLRB, including union election procedures, persuader rule, employee handbooks, joint employer, Purple Communications
• The EEOC, including EEO-1, ADA, gender, religion, class action waivers
• The OFCCP, including enforcement, affirmative action, sick leave, merger with EEOC, other executive orders
• The USDOL, including salary tests for exempt employees, minimum wage, enforcement
