Effective March 31, 2024, the national VEVRAA hiring benchmark is 5.2% (a reduction from the 2023 benchmark of 5.4%). Employers with federal contracts or subcontracts of $150,000 or more must comply with the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), which prohibits employment discrimination against protected veterans. These contractors must establish a hiring benchmark every year to measure their efforts to provide equal employment opportunity for protected veterans.
Federal contractors who are required by VEVRAA to develop a written Affirmative Action Program (AAP) may use the national benchmark, or they may establish an individualized hiring benchmark, as part of their AAP update.
