Released by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) on March 17, 2023, the revised Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) notice must be provided to applicants by employers conducting background checks and when taking an adverse employment action in response to a background check. As the updates are non-substantive, employers have until March 20, 2024, for mandatory compliance; however, employers should begin using the updated form as soon as possible. Links to the updated form in both English and Spanish may be found on theĀ CFPB site.
