The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) offers new resources on how to apply Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) benchmark. OFCCP has published a new example illustrating the use of the VEVRAA national benchmark, which is established every year to measure covered federal contractors’ progress toward achieving equal employment opportunity for protected veterans. Employers with federal contracts or subcontracts of $150,000 or more must comply with VEVRAA, which prohibits employment discrimination against protected veterans. These contractors must establish a hiring benchmark every year.
Federal contractors who are required by VEVRAA to develop a written Affirmative Action Program (AAP) may use the national benchmark, or they may establish an individualized hiring benchmark, as part of their AAP update.
