The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has released “The COVID-19 Pandemic and Caregiver Discrimination Under Federal Employment Discrimination Laws,” a document which, along with an update to the agency’s COVID-19 “What You Should Know” guidance, defines discrimination against employees and job seekers with family caregiving responsibilities. The document addresses how caregiver stereotypes can result in violation of federal laws if they lead an employer to make employment decisions based on a protected characteristic.
