The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) recently updated its VEVRAA Hiring Benchmark Database with the current national benchmark of 5.5%, effective March 31, 2022. Federal contractors who are required by the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) to develop a written Affirmative Action Program (AAP) must also establish a hiring benchmark for veterans every year or adopt the national benchmark provided by the OFCCP, as part of their AAP update. National and state information for contractors who calculate an individualized hiring benchmark has also been updated in the database.
Employers with federal contracts or subcontracts of $150,000 or more must comply with VEVRAA, which prohibits employment discrimination against protected veterans. For more information, see the OFCCP’s VEVRAA Compliance Assistance page.
