The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals recently issued decisions on two lower court cases of violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), the anti-hacking statute. Sam Sneed discussed an employer’s takeaway from these decisions in determining employees’ computer use policies in “Update on the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.” Among the topics covered: recent cases interpreting CFAA, including U.S. v. Nosal and Facebook v. Power Ventures; and best practices for internal policies, both for access and for revocation of permissions.
