Due to the continuing pandemic, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has once again extended compliance flexibility for inspection of Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) documentation. Employers with entirely remote workforces as a result of the pandemic may conduct virtual inspection of required documents for new hires (e.g., over video link, fax or email), and obtain, inspect and retain copies of the document within three business days. Employers must monitor the DHS and ICE websites to find out when the extensions will be terminated and normal operations will resume.
