On April 29, 2024, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) published “Enforcement Guidance on Harassment in the Workplace,” updating, consolidating and replacing the agency’s five separate guidance documents; this document now serves as a single, unified resource on EEOC-enforced workplace harassment law. The guidance includes examples of unlawful harassment, including situations involving older workers, immigrant workers, survivors of gender-based violence, and harassment committed not only by co-workers or supervisors, but also by customers, contractors, and other third parties. It also covers emerging issues, such as virtual work environments and the impact of social media and digital technology on the workplace.
