The Equal Employment ent Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will offer a free webinar on the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) on May 31, 2023, 12-1pm PDT through its Los Angeles District; register here. This new law, which takes effect June 27, 2023, requires covered employers to provide reasonable accommodations to a worker’s known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless the accommodation will cause the employer an undue hardship. The PWFA does not replace federal, state or local laws that are more protective of workers; in Hawaii, pregnancy discrimination laws apply to any government or private employer with one or more employees, except for the federal government. The EEOC will start accepting charges under the PWFA on June 27, 2023
For more information on the PWFA, see the EEOC website.
